We need stronger leadership from our owner period.Nobody is going to want to manage a team that,s only concern is the bottom line

Are you doing a trade war series again this summer?

Yeah, lord help them if that's the case ...

In all seriousness, I'm betting they hire someone in the next six months or so. Perhaps someone working in one of the AHL affiliates, or CHL route. They need another body.

Pressure should be a little lower this year. Yes people want them to make the playoffs, but, if that D continues to suck, can you really blame the coaching?

Maybe management for not making the necessary moves to address it.

Cloutier was easy pickings, anyways - gotta be someone else willing to step up and try to actually win a few deals.

Basing myself only on my knowledge of this team roster, i predict a solid outcome from the SENS and mid way through the season, the expection will rise and the SENS will carack under pressur, but....they will have gain enough points to barely make it in the Playoffs. They get eliminate in 6 vs Pitts.

Any thoughts on candidates? With Eric and Dubas off the market, who is the next leading candidate of that ilk?

Great hire by the Leafs.

Over the years the Leafs have shot themselves in the foot over and over again because of their lack of patience. The media is always pushing for a big deal or signing a top free agent (Clarkson) or just doing something that fills the space of the medias desperate need for a story.

Like the idea that the new guy has a player philosophy that gives priority to speed, size and skill. I think Leaf fans are desperate for a long term strategy that makes sense. If the Leafs make a few deals and become contenders in the McDavid sweeps, the media will skwauk and cry foul, but, a lot of long term fans will be entirely supportive. Far too much importance is given to just making the playoffs. Building a serious contender needs to be the priority.

Unfortunately i don't see them being in the McDavid sweepstakes .

They'd have to trade 2, 3 or 4 of Kessel, JVR, Kadri, Dion, Bernier Rielly and Lupul.

Then if they do that and finish dead last we will have the joy of watching the draft lottery (where they pick the order behind closed doors). I cannot for the life of me imagine the NHL give the Leafs McDavid. They have absolutely no need to. Although a nice thank you gift would be nice from them, as well as an early centennial gift.

Well at least the runner-up prize is Eichel, that would give you an legit all American top line (Assuming you kept Kessel and JVR)

When the hockey got serious during the stretch drive we saw the real Leafs. Leafs are not a good team. Defense is not strong. Weak down the middle. Unless Bernier plays outstanding hockey they will give up lots of goals and lose more than they win.

i forget where i heard it, but does anyone know of its true that Ryan is looking to but Spezza's old house? if it is true, that's gotta be a really good thing because there's no way I can see him buying a house that expensive if he doesn't like it here and wants to leave.
